I meet so many remarkable people but sometimes someone comes in who does something so extraordinary that he is lifted above the common clay. Such a man is Frank Flood. Now Frank used to own the Floodlight restaurant. I never went to the place but it was a fixture in San Carlos for many years.
What Frank did was this: He came in and ordered Boston clam chowder and asked for a scoop of vanilla ice cream installed in the soup. He ate the whole thing. Impossible? So we thought, but then he ordered the grilled artichoke with prawns and crab and had a scoop of ice cream on that. He ate the whole thing.
Frank's wife was with him and Mrs. Flood said that he has always had unusual tastes.
